Nick Tufegdzich Re-Signs In Paderborn

TORONTO, May 24th, 2016 – Slan Sports Management is 151015-1738-55a5cb1da0b61667pleased to announce that Nick Tufegdzich has signed a one-year contract extension with Finke Baskets Paderborn in the German Pro A League.

During his first season in Paderborn, Tufegdzich, a 6’8” power forward, averaged 8.2 points while pulling down 5.1 rebounds per game. He also averaged 1.0 assist while shooting 51.3% from two-point field goal range in 19.9 minutes per game. Tufegdzich showcased arguably his most complete performance of the season in a Round 23 winning effort against higher ranked Koeln Rhein Stars, when he put up 26 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists in 30 minutes of action. A Tecumseh, Ontario native, Tufegdzich graduated from Riverside Secondary School prior to playing his collegiate basketball at York University in the Ontario University Athletics division (OUA) of Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS). In his 4th year as a Lion, he was named an All-OUA Second Team All Star after averaging 13.5 points, and ranking 4th in the country with 10.5 rebounds per game. He was also 3rd in the CIS with 2.1 blocks per game. In his 5th year at York, Tufegdzich upped his scoring average to 19.1 points per game to go along with 10.1 rebounds and 1.8 blocks, this time earning All-OUA First Team honors.

“I am happy to be back with Paderborn for another season,” said Tufegdzich. “There are some great people around the organization and a great coach who can help me develop. I think I had a good second half to the season this year and I’m looking to build on this and become a dominant player on my team and in this league.”

Paderborn finished the season in 13th place with an 11-19 record. The team believes Tufegdzich has a high ceiling and can help lead the team to a playoff birth in 2017.
