Kaylee Kilpatrick Signs New Contract In Germany

TORONTO, August 26, 2017 – Slan Sports Management is pleased to announce that Kaylee Kilpatrick has signed a new contract with SG Weiterstadt of the German 2.Bundesliga.

Kilpatrick, a 6’4” center, played last season for Brunell Cork in the Irish Premier League, before joining the East Perth Eagles of the Australian State League for their summer season. During her 13 games with Brunell Cork, Kilpatrick was the league’s fourth leading scorer with 17.1 points per game, while adding 5.9 rebounds, and ranking fifth in the league in blocks with 2.3 per contest. In her 16 games in Australia, Kilpatrick averaged 13.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 0.9 blocks per game.

A Saint John, New Brunswick native, Kilpatrick attended Harbour View High School, where she was the team MVP of both the basketball and volleyball teams in all four of her seasons. She helped Harbour View win the New Brunswick Juvenile Girls Basketball Championship every year from 2009 to 2011.

Kilpatrick then began her NCAA career with the University of New Hampshire Wildcats in the American east Conference (AEC) for the 2011-2012 season. In her sophomore year, Kilpatrick finished third in the AEC in blocks with 1.1 per game, and fourth in field goal percentage, shooting 46.0%. In her junior season, Kilpatrick averaged 8.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, and was again third best in the conference in shot blocking averaging 1.5 per game. She also helped lead New Hampshire to their second straight AEC tournament semi finals. In her last year at New Hampshire, Kilpatrick finished first in the AEC in blocks, averaging 1.6 blocks per game, was 23rd in scoring with 9.3 points per game, and 17th in rebounding with 5.1 per game. She was named to the AEC All-Defensive Team, as well as the AEC All-Academic Team for the second straight year. Throughout her career at UNH, Kilpatrick blocked 130 shots, which is fourth best in program history.

In 2015, Kilpatrick joined Brunell Cork for her first of two seasons in Ireland. She averaged 15.2 points and 8.0 rebounds per game, while ranking third in the Premier League in blocks with 2.8 per game. Kilpatrick also added 3.2 assists and 1.6 steals per game. She was recognized as a Eurobasket.com All-Irish Premier League Honorable Mention.

Kilpatrick is excited for the opportunity to develop in a new league this season and has her sights set on a championship run.

“I am really looking forward to the upcoming season and joining a new squad,” said Kilpatrick. “I am hoping to bring a strong presence inside and ultimately help win the league so we can be promoted to the first division.”

SG Weiterstadt finished last season with a 9-11 record, which was sixth in the South division of the 2. Bundesliga.

Tearra Banks Signs Multi-Year Contract In Israel

TORONTO, August 24, 2017 – Slan Sports Management is pleased to announce that Tearra Banks has signed her first professional contract with Bnot Hertzeliya in Israel’s Division 1.

Banks, a 6’3” center, is coming off of a four-year collegiate career with the Austin Peay State Lady Govs. This past season, Banks was named Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Player of the Year. She was second in the OVC in scoring with 19.0 points per game and first in rebounding with 8.0 rebounds per game. Banks was also 13th in the NCAA and second in the conference in field goal percentage at 59.9%.

A Louisville, Kentucky native, Banks graduated from Ballard High School before heading to Austin Peay State. As a freshman, Banks was named to the OVC All-Newcomers Team, and was OVC Freshman of the Week on three separate occasions. In her sophomore season, she averaged 12.4 points and 5.6 rebounds in just 20.4 minutes per game. That year, Banks was also named to the Athletics Director’s Honor Role for the second straight season. In her junior year, Banks averaged 12.2 points and 4.3 rebounds, while ranking fifth in the nation and first in the OVC in field goal percentage at 59.7% from the field.

Banks will join former Austin Peay State teammate Tiasha Gray in Hertzeliya. She is excited to continue to expand her game at the next level.

“I am so excited and blessed to start this new journey in Israel,” said Banks. “I thank God that he has blessed me with the opportunity and I look forward to joining my new teammates and coaches in Hertzeliya.”

In last year’s regular season, Bnot Hertzeliya had an 11-5 record in stage one and a 12-9 record in stage two, good for third place overall. They were eliminated by eventual champions Maccabi Bnot Ashdod in the semi finals of the playoffs.

“We have been following Tearra’s game,” said Amit Hellman, Hertzeliya General Manager. “She is working very hard and has extended her game in the last year. She can create in the paint and is a good rebounder. We are sure that she has great potential to develop her shot as well. She is willing to learn and work hard and this is the most import thing for us.

Peyton Whitted Signs First Professional Contract In Greece

TORONTO, August 20, 2017 – Slan Sports Management is pleased to announce that Peyton Whitted has signed her first professional contract with AS Niki Lefkadas in the Greek A1 League.

Whitted, a 6’3’’ forward, is coming off of a four year career at Penn State University. In her senior season, Whitted was selected as a team captain and went on to average 5.8 points and 5.3 rebounds in 19.4 minutes per game. She helped Penn State to a 19-9 overall record, a sixth place regular season finish in the Big 10 Conference (Big 10), and the Sweet 16 of the National Invitational Tournament. An excellent student, Whitted was also named to the Big 10 All-Academic Team for the third consecutive season.

A Nashville, Tennessee native, Whitted graduated from North Gwinnett High School in Georgia, before starting her collegiate career at Penn State in 2013. In her freshman season, she helped Penn State to a regular season Big 10 Championship and a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Tournament. As a junior in 2015-2016, Whitted had her most productive season, averaging 9.3 points on 48.6% shooting. She was also seventh in the Big 10 with 8.3 rebounds per game while adding an average of 1.2 steals.

Whitted, thankful for the opportunity to play overseas, believes her best basketball is ahead.

“I am very humble and thankful for the opportunity I have been given to play professional basketball in Greece this season for Niki Lefkadas,” said Whitted. “I would like to thank, first and foremost, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ because this wouldn’t be possible without Him. I would also like to thank my family, my coaches, my trainers, and my agents for their support. Lastly, I want to thank Coach Nikos Douvitsas for giving me this amazing opportunity with his club. I look forward to what is in store in Greece this season.”

Niki Lefkadas finished last season in fifth place with a 13-9 record, narrowly missing the playoffs. The club believes they have built a strong roster and see a big future for their new forward.

“We are very happy to have such a good player on our team,” said Niki Lefkadas head coach, Nikos Douvitsas. “Peyton is a great athlete, and can play three positions on the court. I think she is also a two way player who will help us on both ends of the floor. I am sure that she will impress the whole basketball community and that she will soon be known all over Europe.”

Doug Herring Jr. Signs New Contract In France

TORONTO, August 18, 2017 – Slan Sports Management is pleased to announce that Doug Herring Jr. has signed a new contract with BC Orchies of the French Nationale Masculine 1 (NM1).

Herring Jr., a 6’3” point guard, began last season with Defensor Sporting Club Montevideo in the Liga Uruguaya de Basketball. After six games with Defensor, Herring Jr. signed with the London Lighting of the National Basketball League of Canada (NBLC) and helped lead them to the 2016-17 NBLC championship. In 42 games in London, Herring Jr. averaged 10.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, 6.4 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. USbasket.com named Herring Jr. an All-NBLC Honorable Mention.

A Poughkeepsie, New York native, Herring Jr. attended Poughkeepsie High School before playing his collegiate basketball at Utica College. There he was a starter and an impact player for four seasons. As a freshman in 2006, Herring Jr. was named the Empire 8 Athletics Conference Rookie of the Year. In 2008, he received national attention as a finalist for the Bob Cousey Award, which is given to the top point guard across all NCAA divisions. That season, Herring Jr. averaged 18.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. In 2009, Herring Jr. was selected as an All-Empire 8 First Team member. Upon graduation from Utica, Herring Jr. was the school’s all-time assist leader with 451 assists, and second all-time leading scorer, with 1,587 career points.

After leaving Utica College, Herring Jr. played three seasons in the Atlantic Coast Professional Basketball League (APBL). During his time there, Herring Jr. broke APBL records for most points in a single game with 66, and most assists in a single game with 20. He then signed with the St. John Mill Rats, where he was an NBLC All Star in 2013-2014. In 44 appearances that season, Herring Jr. averaged 17.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 5.1 assists. He then moved to the United Kingdom for a season with the Bristol Academy Flyers in 2014 before returning to Saint John the following year. During his 2015-2016 season, Herring Jr. led the Mill Rats to the NBLC semi finals and was named to the USbasket.com All-NBLC Second Team.

Herring Jr. is excited to get another opportunity to play overseas.

“I can’t wait to get to France in a few days and start training with my new club, Orchies,” said Herring Jr. “I hope to make an impact in NM1 both scoring the ball and distributing it.”

BC Orchies finished last season with a 19-15 record, good for sixth place in the NM1 division.
