Kruize Pinkins Signs New Contract In German BBL

TORONTO, May 23, 2017 – Slan Sports Management is pleased to announce that Kruize Pinkins has signed with Mitteldeutscher BC Weissenfels (MBC) who are moving into the German Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) after their championship season in Pro A.

Pinkins, a 6’7” power forward, is coming off an exceptional season with Hebeisen White Wings Hanau in the German Pro A League. He averaged 17.6 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists through 30 starts, earning the All-German Pro A Forward of the Year award. He was also selected to both the All-German Pro A First Team and the German Pro A All-Imports Team for the second consecutive season.

A Marianna, Florida native, Pinkins attended Marianna High School prior to starting his collegiate career at Chipola College of the National Junior College Athletic Association. As a sophomore with the Indians, Pinkins earned First Team All-Panhandle League honours after averaging 11.4
points, 6.9 rebounds and shooting 57.8% from the floor. For his junior season, Pinkins moved to the University of San Francisco in the West Coast Conference (WCC) of the NCAA. That year, he averaged 12.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, while also leading the WCC with 3.2 offensive rebounds per game. Prior to his senior season with the Dons, Pinkins was selected to the All-WCC Pre-Season Team. He followed that up with averages of 13.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game during the regular season, finishing 11th and 13th in the conference respectively.

After graduating from the University of San Francisco, Pinkins signed with Hanau for the 2015-2016 season. Pinkins was able to make an immediate impact in his rookie campaign, averaging 13.1 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 1.1 assists over 29 starts. He was named the German Pro A Newcomer of the Year in addition to his First Team, and All-Imports Team selections.

“After two amazing years in Hanau, I am excited that I get the opportunity to play in the BBL, which has been one of my goals since starting my career in Germany,” said Pinkins. “I can’t wait to get to MBC and start working with my new club!”

MBC finished their regular season as the top seed heading into the playoffs, and capped off their year with a Pro A Championship, earning a promotion to Germany’s top league.

“In the last two years Kruize showed his quality,” said Igor Jovovic, MBC Head Coach. “I’m convinced that he still has a lot of potential. The Bundesliga will be a big and new challenge for him and we expect him to use this chance.”
