Jennifer Maturin Signs First Professional Contract In Luxembourg

TORONTO, July 29, 2017- Slan Sports Management is pleased to announce that Jennifer Mathurin has signed her first professional contract, joining Amicale Steinsel, the defending champions of the Luxembourg Total League.

Mathurin, a 6’1” power forward, is coming off of a strong collegiate career at North Carolina State University (NC State) in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) of the NCAA. In her final season with NC State, Mathurin averaged 9.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and shot 85.4% from the free throw line, which was sixth best in the ACC. Mathurin helped her team to a successful season, as NC State reached the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament. Mathurin was also selected to the ACC All-Academic Team for the second time.

A Montreal, Quebec native, Mathurin attended Saint-Lambert High School before committing to NC State prior to the 2013-2014 season. In her sophomore season and first as a starter at NC State, Mathurin averaged 7.3 points, and led the team with 5.8 rebounds per game. Her junior year was her most prolific season, averaging 11.4 points to go along with 6.4 rebounds per game. She was also named NC State Chairman of the Boards for the second time, an award handed out to the team’s top rebounder.

Mathurin is excited to start playing the game she loves as a professional.

“Basketball has been a part of my life for so long and I have to say that I was not ready for this chapter to be done,” said Mathurin. “I feel blessed and extremely grateful for this opportunity. I would like to thank Steinsel for giving me this chance to pursue my dream at the next level.”

With a 22-2 record last season, Amicale was the regular season, cup, and playoff champion in Luxembourg.

“We are thrilled to add Jen to our team of Amicale Steinsel, a team that won the cup and championship in Luxembourg last season,” said Head Coach, Jerome Atlmann. “We believe that Jen has the potential to help our team to have another great season and we are excited to welcome her in mid August to Steinsel.”
